ZANO: Super Smart, Self-flying Nano-drone

A super light HD camera drone that fits easily in a small pocket of your backpack? How about one that’s intelligent enough to use GPS, infrared, sonar, elevation, and motion data to fly itself? Yes, please!!!

Meet ZANO – a kickstarter project from Torquing Group Ltd created just days ago that has already raised over £475,000 or $750,000:

We have already been dropping hints to our wives about getting a Prosumer 4K drone outfit for Christmas (specifically the DJI Phantom 2 with Zenmuse H3-3D Gimbal, DJI Lightbridge, and GoPro Hero4 Black). However, the ZANO nano-drone excites us for its portability, intelligence, and ease of use. We badly need one of these–regardless of whether we get the expensive outfit by DJI/GoPro!

Here’s a brief look at how they accomplished the autonomous flight and the tethering…awesome geekness for sure!!!

We are hoping the kickstarter goes over £1,000,000 because we would like to have a go at the SDK.
